My wife Maria is a determined but unsuccessful gardener. More of her plants die than bloom, yet she never seemed to notice.

Or so I thought--until one day when she was heading to the backyard with newly purchased plants.

The phone rang, and I heard her say to a friend, "I was just heading outside to bury some plants."
